About your DadSpa.com host. . .my name is Matthew O’Brien and I am the proud father of two beautiful girls and one handsome boy. I am truly a Midwestern guy, having lived in Illinois, Minnesota, South Dakota, Michigan and, currently, Wisconsin. I have held jobs in childhood education, adult education, information technology, and retail.
My favorite job is being a parent. Yes, like any job, there are challenges. It pays less than a 9 to 5 gig, but the benefits are the best, as they last a lifetime. I am going to be your “expert” dad for the sake of this site. My qualifications include, the obvious, I’m a dad. Also, I am one of six boys, so I have five brothers (and one brother-in-law) who are dads. I have friends who are dads. I have work-mates who are dads. Really, I know a lot of dads (they are fairly easy to find). I talk to these guys to get their take on planning, playing and relaxing. It wouldn’t be fair to say you’ll like everything I like, so I get opinions from people throughout the country (oh, did I mention they are all dads?).
Back to me: Our planning consists of choosing vacation destinations, test driving the replacement of the family truckster, trying to sock some money away for the future, and assessing home improvement projects. The play at home is much more common! Some of the play is educational, some recreational, and some just good old fashion fun. Finally, being home with my family allows me occasional time for pure relaxation. It doesn’t happen often, but when it does, I want to be prepared.
I hope you’ll get some great ideas from the products and articles I present. If you have any ideas you’d like me to check out. Please contact me at contact@dadspa.com.
